Novita Air Purifiers

I bought 2 Novita Air Purifiers, NAP611-i and NAP101-i, at Novita e-store.

The NAP611-i costs $599 and comes with a free Filter Replacement Pack (FRP) worth $129.  The NAP101-i costs $199 and comes with a free FRP worth $69.  Delivery is free for purchases above $200; otherwise $20 delivery fee is chargeable.

There was no delivery schedule or an option to choose a delivery time when you order online so I called them and was told that delivery to the east is every Friday between 3 pm to 6 pm.  Placed my order on Monday, 15 Sep around 1.30 pm.   Got a confirmation call about half an hour later to say they can deliver on Monday itself between 3 pm to 6 pm, otherwise it will be delivered on Friday, 19 Sep the same time.

The NAP611-i has a 5-step filter and purification system and covers an area of 60m2, with five speed setting from Turbo to Silent Mode.  At Silent Mode, the noise level is 18dB, compared with the “quietest” Mitsubishi aircon which runs at 19dB.  I couldn’t hear it at all and my LG aircon, running on medium fan speed, was louder.

When it is turned on, it runs on Auto Mode, and it will auto detect the atmosphere for the next five minutes and it will adjust the speed automatically according to the air quality of the room.  It will glow with different colours.  If the Air Quality Sensor Light Indicator is red, the air quality is poor, moderate if it is purple, good if it is green, and excellent when it is blue.

The Air Quality Sensor Light Indicator can be turned off.  Great for people like me who needs to sleep in a very dark environment (light indicators from aircon, clock or any electrical display panel can make it difficult for me to fall asleep).

The ioniser, which they claim produces negative ions and not ozone, can also be switched off if it is a concern.

Details of the NAP611-i can be found here.

The NAP101-i has a 4-step filter and purification system and covers an area of 25m2, with three speed setting from High to Low.  At Low Mode, the noise level is 28dB, which was hardly noticeable even at close range.

Unlike the NAP611-i which has more control options, the NAP101-i comes which a dial, much like some electric fan, with 3 settings – High, Medium and Low.  There is no option to switch off the ioniser in this model.

Details of the NAP611-i can be found here.

With most electrical equipment nowadays, the electrical wire is about one meter long, which, depending on where your electrical outlets are, can be too short and you might need an extension wire.  Furthermore, it comes with 2-pin, and not 3-pin, plugs.

I chose the Novita NAP611-i mainly because of its Silent Mode (I can’t sleep if it is noisy or if the room is too bright).  It is also one of the ten air purifiers tested by CASE to “perform efficiently in cleaning the air under haze condition”.

The test report from CASE can be found here
