Overview
Plants vs Zombies Adventures is a Facebook game.

You start off with a Lot (plot of land), on which is your erected House. You acquire adjacent Lots, as each is unlocked and made available, which will form your Town, as you progress through your game. You place Plants on each Lot to defend against random Zombies Attacks on your Town.

When you are in the mood, you can renovate your Town, by upgrading your House and other buildings, buy Decorations (Fences, Paths, even a Scarecrow) and move them around to enhance your Town aesthetically.

You go on Road Trips (levels) across different road Maps (stages), hence the “Adventures”, to, amongst other things, get special plants and unlock Lots for you to acquire. You have to defend yourself against zombies on each Road Trip (level) before progressing to the next.

Throughout the game, you will be given Quests to be completed. Each Quest can consist of more than one task. After completing the series of tasks detailed, you would have completed the Quest and get the reward associated with the Quest. For a list of Quests, click here.

You can invite your Friends. As Friends, you can visit each other Towns, send Gifts, and even send a wave of Zombies to attack them (more on this later).

There are three currencies used in this game: Coins, Zombucks and Gems. You are given a small amount of each when you commenced your game.

Coins are mainly used to buy Plants for you to grow. When they are grown, you can placed them on your Lots or bring them along on your Road Trips. Coins are generated by your House and other subsequent Buildings you acquired and built.

You use Zombucks (ZB) to buy stuff for your Town, such as Buildings, Paths, Fences, etc. You earn Zombucks by successfully completing each Road Trip or surviving a Zombies Attack on your Town, successful completion of Quests and Level-Ups.

Gems are used to speed up and hence lessen the time a Building needs to be constructed/repaired, to skip tasks and to buy Plants. One hundred Gems are given free. You have to buy Gems which are offered for sales at progressive lower rates, starting at 100 Gems for US$2.00.

There is also the XP indicator. You gained Xperience Points through simple things like planting a plant, moving plants or objects, completing Quests, successful defeat of zombies in town or on Road Trips, etc. With each level-up, you receive Coins and Zombucks in increasing portions.  For examples:

Level Up to 2 – you get 50 Coins, 150 ZB
Level Up to 3 – 60 Coins, 175 ZB
Level Up to 4 – 70 Coins, 200 ZB
Level Up to 5 – 80 Coins, 225 ZB
Level Up to 6 – 90 Coins, 250 ZB
Level Up to 10 – 130 Coins 350 ZB
Level Up to 15 – 180 Coins 475 ZB
Level Up to 20 – 230 Coins 600 ZB
Level Up to 30 – 330 Coins 850 ZB

Plants
Plants will be unlocked and made available for purchase as you progress through your game.

You purchase plants with Coins and placed them on each Planter Box to grow. Your House comes with 8 Planter Boxes which means you can only grow a maximum of 8 plants at a time. Subsequent Lots you unlocked and acquired might come with different number of Planter Boxes. Additional Planter Boxes can be bought at 125 Gems each.

Excluding those Plants you have placed on your Town, you can only have a maximum of 15 plants each, grown or still growing in the Planter Box.

When sprayed with Plant Perk, which costs 25 Suns per spray, during your defence, whether in Town or on Road Trips, it enhances the plants strength and capabilities.

Lots and Buildings
You start off with a Lot (plot of land), on which is your erected House. You acquire adjacent Lots, as each is unlocked and made available, which will form your Town, as you progress through your game.

Your House will produce a maximum of 210 Coins in 3 hours at the rate of 70 Coins per hour. When it reaches its maximum capacity, you will need to Collect the Coins before Your House re-starts its production of Coins.

You can buy different types of House or Buildings, as each is unlocked, to be erected on your Lots. Examples:

Small House – costs 500 Zombucks, takes 5 minutes to build (Build Time), and holds Maximum 210 Coins.

Summer House – costs 850 Zombucks, Build Time 15 minutes, Maximum 280 Coins.

The others are: School, Town Hall, Library, Public Pool, Play House and Bus Station.

After purchasing your Building and placing it on your desired Lot, the Building will need to be built, the duration will depend on its Build Time, ranging from 5 minutes to 12 hours.  There are two to three spots on each Lot that you can build on.  After it is built, you will need to lay Paths from the Building to the road.  Only when the Paths are been laid properly will that Building starts to produce what it is supposed to produce.

You have a choice of more than 30 types of Paths to purchase, at varying Zombucks, and lay.  The type you choose have no game play significance other than aesthetics.

Take note that the Path you lay is the Path the Zombies will take to enter your Building and eat your brains.  Hence the longer it is, the better it will be.  However do plan your Paths in such a way that should you have another one or two Buildings in the same Lot, the Paths will also be as long as possible for them.

You can upgrade your House/Buildings, with Zombucks of course, to produce Coins at a faster rate and higher maximum capacity.

When you unlocked the Second Lot, you get a Building, the Plantagon. This Building does not produce Coins but Lawnmowers at a slow rate of one every 9 hours.

The Third Lot will give you the Workshop which produces Zombie Zappers at an even slower rate of one every 10 hours.

You will get Dave’s Car, which produces Gardening Gloves at 4 hours interval, when you unlocked your Fourth Lot.

When you get the 6th Lot, the Cafe will produce Mega-Perks at 6 hours interval.

The Police Station at the 9th Lot will produce Dynamites at 4 hours interval.

The Lawnmowers, Zombie Zappers, Gardening Gloves, Mega-Perks and Dynamites, are collectively called Boosts, which you can choose anyone, but one only, to defend yourself against zombies on your Road Trips (more on this later).

When these Boosts are produced and ready to be Collected, just click on it to Collect and it will be stored in the Inventory. Only when you have collected one will the production starts over again.

There is a maximum holding capacity of 5 each. Once you have reached 5, your 6th will be ready for Collection, but you won’t be able to Collect (because the Inventory is full) and it will be left hanging there till you have the capacity to Collect. Of course production stops till you have Collected it.

You will get two Taco Trucks as you progress through the game.  When you unlock one it will go into the Inventory.  Place and build it on an available spot and after its Build Time, the Taco Trucks will producce a random Boost every 20 hours.

When you are in the mood, you can renovate your Town, by upgrading your House and other buildings, buy Decorations (Fences, Paths, even a Scarecrow) and move them around to enhance your Town aesthetically (more on this later).

Maps and Road Trips
You go on Road Trips (levels) across different road Maps (stages), to, amongst other things, get special plants and unlock Lots for you to acquire. You have to defend yourself against zombies on each Road Trip (level) before progressing to the next.

There are currently 13 Maps (stages):

At the start of each Level, you will be shown the types of Zombies and the paths that they will take for the attack. You will be prompted to select the types of Plants you want for your defence. As you can see from the picture below, the number of Brown Pots will indicate how many Plants you can choose. The Golden Pot is only meant for VIP Plants.

Side Note: You start off the game with only 4 Brown Pots. Additional Brown Pots will be unlocked and made available for you to purchase with Zombucks.

You can only use a maximum of 5 numbers of each Plant at any one time. You can then choose one of the Boosts to use; in this case it is the Lawnmower, which you can use to replace the free ones provided at the beginning of each defence when they are used, thereby adding another line of strong defence.

The Zombie Zappers will freeze all zombies for 10 seconds whilst you can use the Gardening Gloves to move a Plant from one location to another.  Mega-Perks boost all of your Plants for 5 seconds. Dynamites blow away debris to clear and reveal more appropriately strategic spots to place your Plants.

When you have used up 5 numbers of a particular Plant, a 6th and more will be made available by paying the number of Gems indicated on the Pot. You need to be careful here as we are used to choosing a Plant many times as long as the required Suns are available and it is fully re-charged without concern of further costs.

Defence on Road Trips are played in the same manner as in Plants vs Zombies.

However, besides Boosts, you have two other weapons, the ZombiFreeze and Plant Perk.  Both of these are sprays which cost 25 Suns each time you use it.  When sprayed on a zombie, the ZombiFreeze will immobilise the zombie for 3 seconds.  When sprayed on a plant, the Plant Perk will increase the range and damage of the plant for 5 seconds.  To apply these sprays, simply click on the selected plant or zombie.

When a Plant is chewed up by a zombie, it does not disappear.  It remains at the same spot and will take some time to Recover.  Once it has recovered and you have the necessary number of Suns, you can revive it by clicking on it.

Once you have completed all the Levels on a Map, you will need to take Officer Ron's Car to drive to the next Map.  You will need at least 3 other persons to come along.  You can request your Friends to join you or pay for 3 persons to complete the drive.  They cost no less than 600 Zombucks per person.  (There is a change at the moment where you have to use Gems instead of Zombucks to get across.)

You can re-play any Levels you have cleared and receive the associated Zombucks and XP.  However, you won't get the free Lawnmovers for subsequent re-plays.

What follows is a defence clip of Map 5 (KillJoy Park) Level 9.

For more defence video clips, please click here.

Town Defence
You used to get 30 seconds’ notice of an impending zombies attack on your Town. Now you have a choice of whether to accept the attack.  However you won’t know which Lot the attack is on till it starts. Once the attack starts, you will not be able to add, place or move any Plants. You will be allotted whatever Cherry Bombs, Jalapenos and Chilly Peppers you have up to a maximum of 5 each.

You need 150 Suns to use each Cherry Bomb, Jalapeno or Chilly Peppers and 25 Suns for every ZombiFreeze and Plant Perk. Hence you need to place at least one Sunflower on each Lot.

You can only place a maximum of 10 Basic and 2 VIP Plants on each of your Lots. Once you reach that limit, your Plants will be Locked and the option to Place will be greyed out.

Once the attack starts, your fate is dependent on your defence placement strategy and you cannot do much other than collect the Suns generated and keep using the ZombiFreeze and Plant Perk to increase your chance of success against the attack.

You get at least 175 Zombucks plus XPs for every success.

If the Zombies managed to successfully attack you and enter your Building, your Building will need time to be repaired.  Just click on the Building to start the Repair process, which could take as short as 15 minutes to as long as 8 hours, depending on its Build Time.  Nothing will be produced whilst your Building is been repaired. (At the moment, because of some technical glitches, the Repair Time is 2 minutes.)

Zombie Mess (debris), such as fallen cones, buckets and hats, will be left behind after each attack.  Previously you need 5 Zombucks to clear and remove each piece from your Lot.  Now it is free.

Friends
You can invite your Facebook friends to join you as Friends (previously Neighbours) though the benefits are quite limited compared to other games.

As Friends, you can send each other Gifts, such as Coins and Mystery Plants (at random and limited to Sunflowers, Peashooters, Aspearagus and Wall--nut) once a day (OK, cool).

If your Mystery Plant (Sunflower, Peashooter, Aspearagus or Wall-nut) Inventory is at its maximum of 15, you can delay accepting the Mystery Plant Gift from your Friends by not clicking on the Accept Button.  The Mystery Plant will remain there till you Accept it.  However one can only hold a maximum of 30 such Messages.

If you accept the Mystery Plant when you already have 15 of it, you will receive only 5 Coins instead of the Plant, which not only cost more but need time and effort to grow.  Hence it is a waste.  It would be better for you to sell off the excess in your Inventory first (move them onto your Lot, click and select Sell) before Accepting your Mystery Plant as selling off a Peashooter will yield 13 Coins, an Aspearagus 25 Coins Wall-nut 25 Coins, in other words 50% of what the Plants cost, which is better than the otherwise 5 Coins per Plant.

You can visit each other’s Town (and maybe get jealous?).

You can Send Zombies to attack any of your Friend’s Lots and if you succeed, you get Coins and your Friend’s Building goes into Repair mode (you would do that to a Friend!?).

The only meaningful benefit is to be one of the two to four passengers required to travel in Officer Ron’s Car so that your Friend can progress to the next Map without having to spend valuable Zombucks/Gems hiring other people to do so.

Besides being cruel, it is not worth to Send Zombies to attack your Friends, though you probably have to do it a number of times as that is part of at least two of the Quests to be completed.  You can choose to attack Crazy Dave's Town.  However you can do so only once every 18 hours.

It costs 200 Zombucks to send just Zombies; 400 Zombucks to send Conehead Zombies; 600 Zombucks for Conehead Zombies; 1,000 Zombucks for Buckethead Zombies; and progressively more expensive for tougher ones.

If you are successful in attacking your Friend’s Lot, you get 100 Coins if you have spent 200 Zombucks or 150 Coins if you have spent 600 Zombucks. Do the math, it is not worthwhile.  Plus your Friends will probably hate you!

Landscaping
This game allows you to be a Landscape Architect or a Town Planner.

Decorations (Fences, Bushes, Signs, Garbage Can, etc) can be purchased to enhance your Town.

You can Move practically any objects (House, Buildings, Decorations, Trees, Vehicles, etc) to any where you so desire within your own Town. Don’t like the back door facing the road, Rotate the Building.

You can Sell any objects (caution: read next section) or Put it Away In The Inventory (warehouse), except Your House and Buildings producing Boosts, to either to free up space or store there for future use.

The simplest way to do the above is to click on the object and the Options will be made available to you. However this does not work with objects such as Trees, Paths or Vehicles.

To move these and ALL objects, click on the Move Stuff Around In Town! button (looks like a 4-arrow directional symbol) and select the object.

You should not be too concern about landscaping till you have acquired, perhaps at least 5 Lots, so that you have more spots and possibilities.  I did it only when I had 9 Lots.

When you do, take the opportunity to review your Paths and see whether you can lengthened and improved them so that together with a similar Plant placement review, you can better defend your properties.

Note that some Plants have a wide range and placing such Plants near the border of one Lot can mean its range can reach another adjacent Lot thereby increasing your defence; killing two birds with one stone.

Selling
Presently when you click on the Sell button, the object you have selected will be sold stunningly fast. There is no indication of how much your item is worth and how much Zombucks you will get but I believe it is much less than what you would have paid for. For example, a Road Sign I wanted to check on its worth, was sold for 35 Zombucks when you would need to pay 350 Zombucks for it; that’s only 10% returns.

Requests have been made to the game developer to include the Selling Price first, much like when you click Upgrade, you are told how much it will cost to do so, so that you can make an informed decision whether to go ahead to Sell.

If you want to test whether they have included this option, I suggest you click on a least fancy Fence or Path to be certain. Do not try this on any of Building.

Note: There is still no pre-warning of the price you would get for selling an object.  It is still 10%.

You can also sell your Plants that are placed on your Lots.  They are sold for 50% of what they cost you.  For example, you will get 13 Coins for selling a Peashooter, 25 Coins for a Aspearagus, and 50 Coins for a Wall-nut.
